Dear Fellow Members,
Well, the festive season is finally here and personally, I’m looking forward to some quiet time to reflect on the last twelve months. It’s been quite a year serving as your MREA President and I am humbled and proud to have had the opportunity to represent my fellow Manitoba REALTORS® and our profession throughout 2020.
I know it’s been a tough year for all of us, but as a profession we have much to celebrate, as you’ll see below, wherein we highlight some of our association’s key achievements. There’s a lot of work that’s been done and when I think back about what we accomplished, I am especially proud of our advocacy efforts and wins, the collaborative relationship we have with Winnipeg REALTORS®, Brandon Area REALTORS® and The Manitoba Securities Commission. Collectively, we worked hard to support our members who were continuously transitioning their businesses to align with government protocols. And, in large measure, our industry success is due to the brokers and agents who worked diligently to protect their clients and the public by following health protocols. On behalf of the entire leadership team, we sincerely thank all MREA members for your professionalism and commitment to the safety of Manitobans.
On a lighter note, I have definitely had more media interviews than I could have imagined. The real estate market has been a bright spot in Manitoba’s economy, and I have really appreciated being able to tell our positive story on a variety of platforms and channels. I know we’re entering into a slower time for our market, but I’m confident that our industry success will continue throughout the new year.
Thank you to everyone who took the time to provide valuable feedback on MREA’s work in response to the recent membership survey. Using your input, the MREA leadership team has begun the strategic planning process to develop your association’s next five-year strategic plan. I am excited to see how the strategy comes together over the coming months and we look forward to sharing the comprehensive plan with all members by mid-2021.
We have accomplished a lot together in these challenging and unprecedented times. Thank you to the MREA staff, the executive committee, my fellow directors and the many volunteers who have worked tirelessly to ensure our association continues to build, empower and uphold the real estate profession in Manitoba.
Happy holidays and best wishes to you and your families.
Yours truly,
Glen Tosh
2020 MREA President
